Metal Casting, Forging and Finishing Trade Workers are employed in many parts of Australia. They primarily work in Agriculture; Forestry and Fishing; Manufacturing and Wholesale Trade industries. Common duties include:

select metal stock for job requirements

heat metal in forges and furnaces and hammer, punch and cut metal using hand tools and machine presses

temper and harden finished articles by quenching in oil or water baths or by cooling gradually in air

prepare electrolytic and silver solutions for electroforming, and apply solution to the objects to be coated

cut, trim, shape and smooth stock to create mould patterns

fill boxes with sand and setting patterns in place, and pour molten metal into moulds

apply refractory paint and position cores in moulds

finish metal and articles by polishing and buffing and applying chemical finishes
Metal Casting, Forging and Finishing Trade Workers are required to have diploma degree and relevant experience.
